Kenny Pickett – QB (Pittsburgh)

There are plenty of rumors swirling about the Minnesota Vikings reportedly being willing suitors for any team looking for a new quarterback. Kirk Cousins is entering the final year of his bumper deal that counts $45 million against the salary cap and the veteran’s stock might never be higher considering how many organizations are in desperate need of assistance under center.

Even if the Vikings end up keeping Cousins next season, extending the signal-caller just wouldn’t be in the team’s best interests right now. Therefore, there could be a temptation for those in power to draft a quarterback and provide themselves with a contingency plan in the event their current starter is traded or leaves for nothing next spring.

This year’s class isn’t being lauded like many in the past. But it would be a surprise if one or two didn’t end up being productive players at the next level and Kenny Pickett might be the prospect to achieve this objective.

Pickett emerged almost from nowhere to become a potential first-round selection thanks to an exceptional final season with the Pittsburgh Panthers. He is a sound decision-maker that can make things happen on the move, but there are some grave issues that should give the Vikings and others across the league pause for thought.

Outside of the hand size, Pickett’s arm isn’t the strongest. There is also a worry that his ceiling might not be that high upon arriving in the pros.

Next year comes with some outstanding signal-callers, so the Vikings won’t want to miss out on the chance to take someone like Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, or K.J. Jefferson by tying themselves to Pickett this offseason.
