Vikings have reportedly made a decision on Danielle Hunter contract

The Minnesota Vikings appear to have made a decision concerning what to do with their star pass rusher Danielle Hunter this season.

Heading into the 2022 NFL season, there were a few huge decisions the Minnesota Vikings would need to make that could have a huge impact on the team. One of those was figuring out what to do with star pass rusher Danielle Hunter.

When healthy, Hunter is one of the best in the league at getting to opposing quarterbacks. Since 2018, the dynamic defensive end has accumulated 35 sacks in 39 games and disrupted enemy passing attacks on a regular basis.

The question surrounding him for the 2022 season was whether or not the Vikings would pay the large salary he was due for the year. With the deadline arriving, Minnesota has been reported to have made a decision.

What will the Minnesota Vikings do with Danielle Hunter?

According to a recent report from NFL insider Adam Schefter on Twitter, the Vikings are expected to pay Hunter’s $18M roster bonus and honor the remainder of his contract, keeping him on the team for the remaining two years on the deal.

The news that the Vikings are expected to hold on to Hunter is excellent for a Minnesota team that struggled mightily on defense last season. They could definitely use his presence on the edge, especially since the new coaching staff could use him as a defensive end in a 4-3 defense or as a stand-up linebacker in a 3-4.

Hunter is only 27 years old and showcases an unbelievable amount of speed, power, and agility. When paired with his 6’5, 263-pound frame, he becomes more than a handful for any offensive lineman he goes up against.

Of course, this is reported to be the Minnesota Vikings’ plan for the moment. Things can change quickly in the NFL, but at least it seems as though Danielle Hunter won’t be going anywhere for the time being.
