Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, EDGE (1 yr, $3.25M – Texans)

Finding an edge rusher isn’t as dire as it was when the future of Danielle Hunter was up in the air. Now that we know the Minnesota Vikings are planning on keeping their star pass rusher around, they have a few options to throw around.

Of course, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo wouldn’t likely have been an immediate starter in Minnesota anyway. After three seasons with the Rams (and a healthy connection to new Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell), it is a bit surprising not to hear the purple and gold having interest in him.

Okoronkwo played in 13 games for Los Angeles last season where he played a lot of special teams and took snaps situationally on defense. He had two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass defense in that time, showing some of his potential ability.

As a low-risk investment at $3.25M, the Vikings could have used someone to develop behind Hunter and whoever the second starter will be as well as someone to help on special teams. This seems like a missed opportunity.
