Kyler Gordon – CB (Washington)

Cornerback is easily the top need for the Minnesota Vikings. As of this writing, Cameron Dantzler and Kris Boyd top the depth chart, and the team definitely can’t go into the season with those two as the starters.

They could grab a Derek Stingley Jr. or Trent McDuffie at pick No. 12, but if they opt to go with an edge rusher, then all signs point to cornerback being the first selection on day two of the draft. There could be a handful of quality options on the board, and one of the better ones would be Kyler Gordon from Washington.

Gordon is an impressive athlete, who is a fluid mover with great speed and range. He stands just a hair under 6-feet and weighed in at 194 pounds at the Combine. At said event, he ran a 4.52-second time in the 40-yard dash, showing he has recovery speed and is fast enough to cover receivers down the field stride for stride.

Scouts love the way Gordon plays the game, and that is with a massive chip on his shoulder. He feels he’s the best player on the field and won’t back down to anyone, whether that is in coverage or coming up to make a hit on a ball carrier. He does need some technique polishing and could use a touch of patience, but Gordon has all the tools to be a very good starting cornerback for a long time.
