6 quarterbacks the Minnesota Vikings could draft in 2023

Which quarterbacks should the Minnesota Vikings have their sights on for the 2023 NFL Draft?
The idea that the Minnesota Vikings have to draft a quarterback in the next two seasons is not completely warranted but it does deserve a bit of a discussion. Kirk Cousins is likely going to be the team’s starting quarterback for the next two seasons but the future beyond that is tricky.
Giving Cousins the extension this offseason makes the 2022 NFL Draft extremely unlikely as an option for the Vikings to find their next guy. They will not want to draft a developmental quarterback in the first round if they believe they can win right now, which is what the extension insinuates.
That said, the Vikings could still shift their focus to the 2023 NFL Draft, a class that figures to feature more NFL-caliber gunslingers than this one. There are a handful of names that stick out more than a year away from the draft but teams will certainly be doing their homework soon if they haven’t already.
Finding the next quarterback takes time, effort, and a lot of resources. It is always going to be in the back of a team’s mind unless they have a young, MVP-level quarterback that they can point to as the face of the franchise.
At 34 years old, Cousins leaves the Vikings in this weird middle ground of having a good quarterback that is aging but hasn’t really been that MVP-level player. They can certainly want to get better and younger at the position and that should be the goal no matter what.
The 2023 NFL Draft features a lot of exciting talent at quarterback and the Vikings should be interested at the bare minimum. Actively trying to land one is a different story but the Vikings will once again be in the conversation of the quarterback movement.
Here are six of the top quarterback prospects that the Vikings could land more than a calendar year from now.
