Scotty Miller – WR (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Ever since Kevin O’Connell was hired by the Vikings to be their new head coach, he has talked about building a team that utilizes the illusion of complexity.

On the offensive side of the ball, that consists of making simple plays seem more complex by implementing a number of different motions and formations. The offense can also make things more complex for their opponents just by having certain players out on the field.

Someone like Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Scotty Miller, who ran his 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds in 2019, is a player that always has to be accounted for by the opposing defense whenever he’s on the field.

Just by having Miller on the field as a threat to go deep, Minnesota’s offense would be able to do a lot of different things and get a bunch of their other talent like Justin Jefferson, Irv Smith Jr., Adam Thielen, and Dalvin Cook easier opportunities to make plays.

Miller can also be utilized as more than just a decoy too. Just ask Bucs quarterback Tom Brady, who targeted the young speedster 53 times during the 2020 season.

A toe injury prevented Miller from doing much in 2021, but he should be good to go for next season. If the Vikings are looking for a receiver that could help their offense achieve that illusion of complexity that O’Connell seems to want, making a trade for Miller is something to consider.
