Daxton Hill – S (Michigan)

If the Vikings move down more than once and find themselves picking toward the end of round one, they could address a secondary need and go with a safety. Georgia’s Lewis Cine could be a possibility, but another exciting player who could be on the board is Michigan’s Daxton Hill.

Hill is an impressive prospect. He’s got great size with vines for arms and is excellent in coverage. The guy is extremely athletic and fast, and he will have no trouble staying stride to stride with any receiver that comes his way. He’s so natural in coverage that there has been some scuttlebutt that he could be moved to corner on a full-time basis. That wouldn’t be the worst thing for the Vikings as they definitely need more depth and talent at that position.

While he isn’t a big-time hitter, Hill is definitely a more than willing tackler with 149 total in his days with the Wolverines. He also picked off four passes in college and had 15 pass breakups.

It’ll be interesting to see where Hill ultimately comes off the board. He is one of these players that could go much earlier than anyone expects. However, if the Vikings do move down the board quite a bit and all the options at their primary needs are picked clean, taking Daxton Hill makes a ton of sense.
