5 potential starting QB options for the Minnesota Vikings in 2023

Kyler Murray
This might be something of a pipedream, one suspects. But the longer Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals cannot find some common ground regarding an upcoming contract extension, the speculation will remain and perhaps even grow moving forward.
Murray has been a revelation since being selected No. 1 overall in 2019. He won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year right out of the gate and is coming off his second-straight Pro Bowl campaign to further indicate great things could be on the immediate horizon.
The Cardinals looked like a legitimate Super Bowl contender before tailing off dramatically down the stretch and eventually losing in the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams. Not having DeAndre Hopkins to call upon was a major blow for Murray and something the signal-caller couldn’t overcome despite playing through pain.
Failing to meet lofty expectations saw some criticism come Murray’s way. His reckless style of play coupled with reported immaturity from a leadership standpoint leaves more questions than answers next season, which is a big one for the Oklahoma product if he wants a bumper new deal.
If this situation gets messy, then the Minnesota Vikings should be paying close attention. Adding Murray to a backfield that also has Dalvin Cook has untold potential, although the cost of acquiring such a gifted dual-threat player might be out of their reach even if Arizona does start taking calls.
