9 free agents the Vikings could sign before the 2022 NFL Draft

DeShon Elliott – S
2021 Team: Baltimore Ravens
If Minnesota decides to go with Camryn Bynum as their starting safety next to Harrison Smith next season, DeShon Elliott is a guy worth bringing in to improve the team’s depth at the position.
Elliott, who actually suffered a season-ending injury against the Vikings in 2021, could still be waiting for a starting job this year. But if the 24-year-old safety is okay with being a backup for a season or two, then Minnesota should think about giving him a call.
Michael Schofield III – OG
2021 Team: Los Angeles Chargers
The Vikings have been addressing the guard position all offseason long with the signings of Chris Reed, Jesse Davis, and Austin Schlottmann. But none of these additions jump out as the definitive choice to open the 2022 campaign as Minnesota’s starting right guard. So why not bring in even more competition?
Michael Schofield III got back on track with the Los Angeles Chargers last season after a disappointing 2020 performance with the Carolina Panthers. With the Chargers last year, Schofield was graded as the 39th-best guard in the NFL by PFF.
Is he a future All-Pro? Probably not, but he’s another solid guard that might be worth the Vikings bringing in to compete for their starting right guard job.
