What safeties could the Minnesota Vikings look to acquire during the 2022 NFL Draft?
Things have been anything but dull for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. It began with a complete shift in ethos after ownership fired Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman at the same time and now has the organization in a promising position heading into the 2022 NFL Draft.
Considering where the Vikings were financially just before free agency, things couldn’t have gone much better for new head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Key figures were kept around and they’ve made the most out of what little financial resources were available with some outstanding additions to problem positional groups.
Solidifying this with a strong draft from eight selections can only improve their hopes of returning to the postseason. Considering the team lost Xavier Woods to the Carolina Panthers in free agency, adding a talented safety to pair with Harrison Smith should now be among the team’s top priorities.
Woods performed far better than anticipated during his one and only season in Minnesota. There are hopes surrounding Camryn Bynum entering his second season, but the Vikings would be wise to bolster their options in this area of the field with an exciting recruit or two from the college ranks to assist their cause.
With this in mind, here are seven safety prospects the Vikings should consider drafting in 2022.
