Penn State has produced some gifted athletes on defense in recent years. Many are currently thriving at the next level and Jaquan Brisker is sure to add his name to this illustrious list with a potential first-round selection during the 2022 NFL Draft.
Brisker is an instinctive athlete who reads the game well enough to make an instant impact in the pros. He emerged as a true leader with the Nittany Lions and his fluidity in coverage is something else that won’t have gone unnoticed by scouts across the league.
In addition to this, Brisker is a physical hitter and has no trouble coming down to the second level on running downs. He seldom misses tackles and the prospect has plenty of jaw-dropping hits on film to whet the appetite further about what he could potentially do in the NFL.
If Brisker can become a little more composed before making his move on a play and also progress his press coverage skills, then someone is going to have a real player on their hands. The incoming college recruit would learn plenty from Harrison Smith if the Minnesota Vikings went in this direction, even if taking him at No. 12 overall does seem like a reach.
However, if those in power like Brisker enough, then perhaps trading into the late first-round is an option worth considering. A move that could come with short and long-term improvements on defense.
