Wade Wilson

  • Draft Year: 1981
  • Draft Round: 8th
  • Draft Pick: No. 210

During his first few years with the Vikings, Wade Wilson was mostly just a backup. But in 1987, he had the opportunity to not only start under center in seven regular-season games for Minnesota, but in two playoff matchups for them as well.

With Wilson’s help, the Vikings were able to pull off a big-time upset over the San Francisco 49ers in the 1987 divisional round of the playoffs. In this win over the 49ers, Wilson threw for 298 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Wilson had more opportunities to start for Minnesota in 1988, and his performance in this season led to the one and only Pro Bowl selection of his NFL career.

For a guy that was selected in the eighth round of the 1981 NFL Draft, Wilson should be happy with how his career in the league turned out.

He ended up spending 10 years with the Vikings, and after his time in the Twin Cities, the former Minnesota quarterback had stints with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, and Oakland Raiders.
