Many were surprised when the Giants made the decision to use the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. Some felt Jones was drafted too high, and so far, those doubters have pretty much been proven right.
Jones had a solid rookie campaign in 2019 that left New York fans optimistic about the future of the team with him starting under center. But in the last two seasons, the 24-year-old quarterback hasn’t really made significant progress in his development.
Earlier this offseason, the Giants hired former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to be their new head coach. Daboll played a key role in helping Bills quarterback Josh Allen develop into one of the best signal-callers in the NFL today.
New York is hoping Daboll can do the same for Jones next season, and if he can’t, then the 2019 first-round pick could be looking for a new home in 2023.
