Bo Melton (Rutgers)

Measurements:

  • Height: 5-foot-11 | Weight: 195 pounds

2021 Stats:

  • 55 catches
  • 618 yards (11.2 YPR)
  • 3 touchdowns

Bo Melton spent five seasons with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and never reached 700 yards receiving in a single season. He also only scored 13 touchdowns in those five seasons with two of them coming off of rushing attempts.

His minimal production in college is definitely not great and it’s a huge reason why Melton will be a Day 3 selection. While he is a smaller player for the position, he makes up for it with elite athletic testing that can help land him a spot on a roster.

Melton ran a 4.34-second 40-yard dash (94th percentile) with a 1.5-second 10-yard split (88th percentile). He showed flashes of a good receiver that can create after the catch and has the ideal skillset to be a return man.

With so much experience under his belt, Melton is pretty much a known product but could benefit from playing in a more pass-heavy offense that utilizes a multitude of weapons. He can come in and be an immediate contributor in a small role, but his limited ceiling will keep him from being a focal point of the offense.

On Day 3 as the Vikings try to fill out the roster, Bo Melton is the perfect candidate to be a depth piece and special teams gunner. Teams can always find ways to utilize speed and Melton has plenty of it.
