Vikings have intriguing connection to Deebo Samuel

With the 49ers and Deebo Samuel seemingly ready to part ways, it is interesting to note a connection between the receiver and the Minnesota Vikings.
Deebo Samuel is a dynamic player who can get a lot done through the air or on the ground. Now that Samuel has reportedly asked to be traded from the 49ers, a lot of teams will likely be interested in the exciting playmaker, including the Minnesota Vikings.
Of course, Minnesota will be hard-pressed to make room for the disgruntled wide receiver financially. Any place Samuel goes, he will likely want a big contract extension that is on par with the going rate of players in today’s market since he is in year four of his rookie contract.
Still, the idea of Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen doing damage in the same offense as Deebo Samuel is quite an intriguing thought. Although it is unlikely to happen, there is enough reason to believe the new Vikings GM would be interested in making a deal.
What is Deebo Samuel’s connection to the Minnesota Vikings?
The San Francisco 49ers chose Deebo Samuel in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. One of the members of the 49ers brass at the time was Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was San Francisco’s director of football research & development.
Now that Samuel has established himself as a major threat every time he touches the ball, expect Adofo-Mensah to at least inquire about the cost to acquire Deebo’s service and worry about shifting money around for an extension if a deal is possible.
Even though the Vikings will likely be interested, there are teams with much deeper pockets and more trade assets who are in need of a dynamic playmaker that would be willing to give up more than the purple and gold are.

Even if it is unlikely the Minnesota Vikings trade for Deebo Samuel this offseason, it is a lot of fun to think about what an offense with so many amazing playmakers would look like. Still, there will likely be a chunk of the purple and gold fanbase hoping Deebo can find his way to the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
