Trent McDuffie – CB (Washington)

As stated previously, the Minnesota Vikings need another gifted body in their cornerback room before the 2022 season gets underway. Not exactly uncommon for an organization that has spent multiple first-rounders on the position in recent years with mixed success.

Cornerbacks do tend to struggle coming out of college against bigger, more imposing wide receivers that are guaranteed to punish every mistake. Trent McDuffie has the skill set to shift this narrative and it would be a surprise if he wasn’t still on the board at No. 12.

McDuffie emerged as a shutdown corner at Washington thanks to a unique blend of vision, intelligence, and explosiveness. His composure in key situations is impeccable and this is matched by supreme reaction skills that enable him to make plays at will.

Tackling should not be a problem for McDuffie at the next level, which the Vikings always like in their defensive backs. If he can bulk up a little bit and improve discipline on occasions, then his chances of having a successful NFL career are almost guaranteed.

This is a realistic pick for the Vikings. One that could get Cameron Dantzler the long-term partner he’s been looking for.
