7 absolute best draft options at pick No. 12 for the Vikings in 2022
By Dean Jones
Derek Stingley Jr. – CB (LSU)
Did we mention that the Minnesota Vikings are looking for cornerback help?
This would take some pre-draft buzz surrounding Derek Stingley Jr. to diminish in the coming days. But if the Vikings were fortunate enough to see the LSU product on the board at No. 12, it would be wise to turn in their card at the earliest possible opportunity.
Stingley’s final season in Baton Rouge was frustrated by injury and due to the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign, the corner has featured just 10 times since playing a significant role in the Tigers’ national championship victory.
During that 2019 season, Stingley looked like the next great cover corner to emerge from the college ranks. That might still be the case, but there were some significant questions on the health front that needed answering prior to the evaluation process.
Thankfully for the player and interested NFL teams, Stingley answered these and a whole lot more at his pro day. This won’t have gone unnoticed by the Vikings, but they might be out of luck unless the primary decision-makers feel like he is a prospect worth moving up slightly for.
If Stingley is there, it’s a no-brainer. Whether that ends up being the case is highly debatable based on recent projections.
