Minnesota will aggressively pursue Williams
Another name that the Vikings could land at pick No. 12 is Jameson Williams. The Alabama receiver would be a top-five pick in most drafts but suffered a torn ACL in the College Football Playoff. Although his rehab is going well, some believe that he could be available when the Vikings are on the clock.
You may have trouble grasping the need for a receiver. With Jefferson and Thielen on top of the depth chart, Minnesota also has K.J. Osborn and Ihmir Smith-Marsette, who could step up in case of injury. But adding another weapon is becoming more popular in the NFL with wide receiver contracts on the rise.
Williams would be the perfect complement for this offense. His 4.4-second 40-time would give the Vikings an option to take the top off the defense. Even if he doesn’t return until November, that speed could give him the most upside in the draft, which is something the Vikings should be gunning for.
Adding Williams would lean into the Vikings’ strengths on offense. If he’s there toward the back half of the top 10, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Minnesota try to trade up and get another potential game-breaker.
