Vikings Draft 2022: Realistic five-round mock draft 2.0
By Adam Patrick
Fifth Round (Pick No. 156)
Bo Melton – WR (Rutgers)
Measurements:
- 5-foot-11
- 189 pounds
2021 Stats (in 10 games):
- 55 catches
- 618 yards (11.2 average), 3 touchdowns
- 9 carries, 51 rushing yards (5.7 average)
Some would like to see the Vikings take a chance on a wide receiver in the first or second round this year. Minnesota could definitely do that, but they also have the receiver depth on their current roster to take a chance on a developmental pass-catcher in the middle of the draft.
Bo Melton didn’t put up monster numbers during his college career at Rutgers, but it’s not like he had elite quarterbacks throwing to him either. So Melton definitely has the potential to be much more productive at the pro level.
During the pre-draft process this year, he tested exceptionally well, and his numbers are comparable to a guy that Vikings fans should be very familiar with in Percy Harvin.
This isn’t to say that Melton is the next Harvin, but Minnesota would likely be very happy to land this former Rutgers wide receiver in the fifth round.
