What to expect from Ed Ingram

The Minnesota Vikings also got their hands on another offensive lineman to boost depth within a key positional group with the selection of Ed Ingram. Although the team potentially has a dynamic bookend tackle tandem in Brian O’Neill and Christian Darrisaw, things are far less certain on the interior, and the more options they have, the better their chances will be.

Ingram has a bunch of high-class production under his belt at LSU and steadily progressed with every passing year. He is an intelligent individual that plays with ruthless aggression, which should make him an instant hit, providing his transition to the Vikings goes smoothly.

Even though Ingram is a well-built man, he is surprisingly athletic and tested extremely well at the NFL Scouting Combine to further reflect his gameday film. Versatility is another trait the player brings to the table, which is exactly what Minnesota needs looking at the current options at their disposal.

There are some character concerns surrounding Ingram, as he was suspended by LSU for the entire 2018 season after he was arrested on multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault of a minor. His charges were ultimately dropped and LSU reinstated him in 2019.

From a production standpoint, there are times when the lineman is a little sluggish off the snap, which will obviously be punished far more in the NFL than it was during his time with the Tigers.

The Vikings clearly see something in Ingram that might lead to him becoming a key rotational piece. But much will depend on how much progress he can make in a short space of time this offseason.
