Round 5
Jayden Daniels – QB (LSU)
The Minnesota Vikings do not currently have a fourth-round pick in 2023 after trading around on Saturday so that spot will be skipped for now. LSU transfer quarterback Jayden Daniels is going to be a fascinating prospect to watch in 2022.
Daniels started his career at Arizona State and had a lot of flashes as the starting quarterback but things went downhill in a hurry for the program. He moves to LSU with a chance to prove himself and get his name back in the mix as an NFL prospect.
His frame is going to be a massive talking point as Daniels looks to the NFL. He has the height that will stick out but Daniels is slim, especially for a guy who loves to run the ball. Daniels averaged over 100 rushing attempts per season at Arizona State.
If Daniels takes the starting job at LSU and does a good job, he could be a Day 3 selection with a lot of upside in a draft that features a ton of talented quarterbacks. While he is no longer the first-round player that many expected him to become, Daniels has a lot of traits to like.
He is long, has a pretty strong arm, and can make plays with his legs. Inaccurate throws and inconsistency from the pocket have hurt him for years but maybe a season with SEC opponents will force him to improve.
