Safeties (4)

  • Harrison Smith, Lewis Cine, Camryn Bynum, Josh Metellus

Harrison Smith signed an extension that essentially guaranteed he would e on the roster and be that veteran presence among the safeties. The only question is who would be next to him in the starting duo.

It looked as though it would going to be Camryn Bynum after he showed potential last season, but the Vikings used their first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on Lewis Cine instead. A highly athletic player that should be a day one starter, Cine fills the need nicely.

That makes Bynum available to be the team’s primary backup as he continues to grow and develop in the NFL. he can fill in for either defender while linebacker Brian Asamoah can also step back as safety if needed.

That leaves at least one more spot on the roster and that will go to someone who can contribute on special teams. Josh Metellus has been great as a special teams player and should make the roster based on that production.
