Considering that the Vikings had 10 draft picks, it was a shock to see them take one wide receiver later on in the process. The team obviously feels confident in their options with Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen leading the charge, and there is always next year if reinforcements need acquiring with the long-term in mind.

The Vikings did bring in another wideout in undrafted free agency, who has a sneaky chance to make the 53-man roster if everything goes well. Thomas Hennigan enjoyed five consistent seasons at Appalachian State, which saw the player achieve 242 receptions for 3,124 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns during this span.

While Hennigan might not be the most explosive wide receiver to ever grace the league, he represents a potentially solid possession receiving option in a similar mold to what the Vikings once had with Brandon Zylstra.

Reliability is an often overlooked trait. Hennigan has soft hands and gets out of his routes quickly, which could be of use if he can improve physically in the pros over time.

Hennigan also has experience in the kick return game, which will also help. It might be a long shot for the player to make the team, but one cannot entirely dismiss the notion given the skill set he’s bringing to the table.
