With the Vikings moving forward with a 3-4 defensive front, the more options they have to clog up the middle, the better their chances will be. It looks like Dalvin Tomlinson will fill the nose tackle position based on consensus projections, with the addition of home-state hero Esezi Otomewo during the draft providing additional help on the edge with a smooth transition.

One eye-catching move that’s gone relatively under the radar is the team’s decision to pick up Tyarise Stevenson in undrafted free agency. The mammoth Tulane product is a formidable presence to shift off the block, and providing there is a refinement from a technical standpoint, he could be a lively outsider to make the 53-man roster when it’s all said and done.

Stevenson stuffs the run in impressive fashion. This was evident throughout his five years in college, and although there wouldn’t be much to go off from a pass-rushing standpoint, a two-down role at the next level seems attainable if the necessary adjustments occur quickly.

One area where Stevenson cannot be faulted is work ethic. He gives maximum effort on almost every down, and this attitude should serve him well in pursuit of staking a claim in Minnesota.

There is the presence of Armon Watts to overcome. The return to full health of Jaylen Twyman is also something that could be a potential stumbling block in Stevenson’s chances.
