He’s a Wheeler and Dealer

There was a little debate prior to the draft if Kwesi Adofo-Mensah would stay put at his picks or if he’d be much like Rick Spielman and move down to acquire more draft capital. If this draft is indicative of the future, we can assume that Kwesi will rarely stand pat.

Adofo-Mensah moved down twenty picks in Round 1. He then moved down a second time in Round 2, only to jump back up. He then traded down in Round 4, only to later jump back in, and then also moved around multiple times in Round 6, finishing with 10 total choices.

The biggest difference between Spielman and Kwesi is the fact that Kwesi traded up twice to get the guys he had to have. Spielman, especially later in his tenure, enjoyed moving down and then was content letting the board fall to him and take the best player who was left on his board.

Time will tell if the wheeling and dealing was the right move to make, but fans of the Vikings will be more ready for some board manipulation when the 2023 NFL Draft commences next April.
