Overall depth and experience

Depth throughout the team needs to be valued even more than it was last year. The thin roster leaves an extremely narrow margin for error in a sport known for brutal hits and devastating injuries.

As soon as the Vikings’ premier players started missing time last season, it immediately became clear for everyone watching the games that the depth on the team was as scary as some reporters and analysts stated.

Contingency plans and good luck are essential to every Super Bowl winner, and as every Vikings fan is aware, luck doesn’t go Minnesota’s way as often as they’d like it to. Without meaningful wiggle room in the salary cap, the Vikings will need to rely very significantly on their development as they seemingly plan to do.

The new class of rookies bears the weight of all those still remaining with the team, the failed experiments, and the veterans who departed earlier in the offseason. They will be asked to handle tough assignments throughout the season, and will likely experience some hard-to-watch growing pains each week.

With a lot of faith, optimism, and perseverance, fans should be prepared for another season filled with close contests, grueling battles, and nail-biting finishes.
