Draft trades with NFC North rivals

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah wasted little time in taking some risks when it came to his draft approach. This left the Vikings with 10 picks overall and some capital for next year, which might come in handy if they identify a potential quarterback that can become the heir apparent to Kirk Cousins.

However, one of the most confusing moves made by the Vikings was trading with two NFC North rivals. Something that is very uncommon, to put it mildly.

Firstly, Minnesota allowed the Detroit Lions to move up from No. 32 overall into the No. 12 spot. A deal that didn’t cost all that much in the grand scheme of things and gave them an elite wide receiver prospect in Jameson Williams, who could become an NFL star in no time at all.

Not only this, but the Vikings also traded with the Green Bay Packers for much more acceptable compensation. Even if it did provide quarterback Aaron Rodgers a new weapon in the form of Christian Watson, a physically gifted wideout that has all the intangibles needed to thrive at the next level.

Teams need much more than one player to achieve success, obviously. But if Williams and Watson reach or even exceed expectations, then the Vikings could pay for years to come.
