NBC Sports’ Peter King recently shared some of his thoughts about the Minnesota Vikings and the team’s potential chance to succeed during the 2022 season.

During the last two seasons, the Minnesota Vikings have packed up their lockers after the final game on their schedule. Minnesota only has one playoff appearance since 2018, and it’s a big reason why the franchise made the decision to hire a new head coach and general manager this offseason.

Despite the fact that the Vikings have missed out on the postseason in three of the last four years, the new regime has kept the majority of the 2021 roster together for the 2022 campaign.

Minnesota is banking on the additions of new head coach Kevin O’Connell and new general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to be enough to get the team back in the playoffs.

Peter King seems to be optimistic about the Minnesota Vikings in 2022

In his recent Football Morning in America column that he shares every Monday, NBC Sport’s Peter King had a section about the intriguing trades that the Vikings made with their NFC North opponents during this year’s NFL Draft.

But before he shared his thoughts about the trades, he revealed his belief that Minnesota is a “sneaky threat to go deep into the playoffs.”

For someone who has covered the sport as long as King, these thoughts of his are certainly significant. He’s typically not one to just publish something that he doesn’t believe to be true.

When one looks at the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers are clearly the top three teams in the conference. After these three, however, there aren’t a ton of differences between the Vikings and the handful of other teams in the NFC that will be fighting for a playoff spot next season.

There’s no question that Minnesota has some very talented players on their roster. What O’Connell and his new coaching staff have to do is figure out how to utilize this talent in a way that will produce more success for the team moving forward.

If you ask King, the Vikings aren’t very far from that actually coming together and happening.
