How Kirk Cousins can finally change the narrative in 2022
By Luke Parrish
Cousins can clinch a playoff spot down the stretch
Compared to the rest of the season, the final stretch is pretty favorable for the Vikings. Their final five opponents had a combined record of 35-49-1 last season. The Lions, Giants, and Bears all appear over the final stretch of the season with the Packers and Colts fitting in as well.
The final two games of the season are on the road against divisional opponents with cold weather possibly playing a factor. Minnesota heads to Green Bay in Week 17 and Chicago in Week 18 while hopefully fighting for a playoff berth.
They should, in all reality, win the games against the Lions, Giants, and Bears, but anything can happen. Stealing a win over the Colts or Packers and going 4-1 down the final stretch would be enough to get the Vikings into the playoffs barring a disastrous rest of the season.
Kirk Cousins is going to have some tough tasks to start the 2022 season. If he can survive those challenges and get to the second half of the season with a respectable record, the Vikings should be in line for the playoffs with a favorable end to their season.
Primetime games, international showcases, and holiday meetings will give Cousins every bit of a chance to right the ship and change the discourse of his career. He’s been labeled the guy that can’t win when it matters and will not show up in the brightest moments.
He has a lot of those moments set up for 2022 and it will be the ultimate test for the Vikings and their quarterback. Is this the year the Vikings get over those struggles, or will the same story continue to be written?
