Starting Cornerbacks

  • Patrick Peterson – CB1

Last year, Patrick Peterson signed with the Vikings to get his career back on track. Peterson had two disappointing seasons with the Cardinals in 2019 and 2020, and he clearly just needed a change of scenery.

Peterson is back in Minnesota for the 2022 season and he’ll immediately step in as the team’s No.1 cornerback. It will be interesting to see how the Vikings’ switch to a 3-4 base defense impacts his performance this year.

  • Cameron Dantzler – CB2

Some believe that Andrew Booth Jr. will open the 2022 season as Minnesota’s No. 2 cornerback, but in the end, Cameron Dantzler’s experience will give him the edge in this position battle.

Despite finding himself in Mike Zimmer’s doghouse multiple times during his first two years with the Vikings, Dantzler has been solid during his opportunities out on the field during his tenure in Minnesota.

Booth could potentially takeover the role during the middle of the 2022 season, but to begin the year, Dantzler will likely be in the No. 2 spot on the Vikings’ cornerback depth chart.
