Starting Running Back

  • Dalvin Cook

Later this year, Dalvin Cook will step on the field for his sixth season in the NFL as a member of the Vikings. Injuries caused Cook’s career in Minnesota to get off to a slow start, but during the last few seasons, he’s been one of the most productive running backs in the entire league.

In 2021, Cook did see his numbers take a bit of a dip. After racking up 1,918 total yards and 17 touchdowns in 2020, he finished last season with 1,383 total yards and only six trips to the end zone.

Despite his production taking a step back, Cook was still voted to the Pro Bowl for the third year in a row last season. So he’s still playing at a very high level.

It will be interesting to see how the Vikings utilize the veteran running back in their new offense next season. Will Cook’s involvement look similar to years past, or could Kevin O’Connell take a different approach that attempts to keep the running back healthier throughout the season?
