C.J. Ham, fullback

This cut would hurt. Seeing the Minnesota Vikings say farewell to C.J. Ham is something many fans would hate to see since his blocking for Dalvin Cook, pass protection, and sneaky plays out of the backfield have given reasons to cheer even when games aren’t a lot of fun to watch.

In today’s NFL, most teams don’t employ the services of a fullback. Instead, they will employ tight ends or extra linemen in situations where they need an extra blocker. Depending on how Minnesota schemes their offense, Ham could be on the outside looking in.

Rumblings have been heard about Ham being used as a tight end in addition to fullback when needed. That versatility would be a huge asset to a player whose future is entirely up in the air at the moment.

Winning a job at tight end wouldn’t be as though. Minnesota has a true lack of depth in the position with many questions surrounding the unit. Ham will need to be open to playing multiple positions to make the 53-man roster, but there is a chance it might be a lot for the Duluth native to handle.
