5. Paying Danielle Hunter to stay
When the Minnesota Vikings decided not to blow everything up and attempt to stay competitive while they prepare for the future, they had some tough decisions to make as to which pieces to keep around and which ones to move on from.
One of the toughest calls had to come with Danielle Hunter. The team had to decide whether to pay the talented pass rusher a large salary for this season or attempt to find a new player to take his spot.
The decision was made even more difficult because Hunter has struggled to stay on the field because of injuries, but when he is able to play he is a game-changing defender and one that would fit well into what the Vikings want to do.
Finding and paying for a new edge rusher would have cost them a lot if the team expected to make a possible playoff push. Instead, Minnesota can keep one of their best players, evaluate this season, and then decide on what to do with his future from there.
