Over the course of his eight-year NFL career, Anthony Barr has yet to take a snap for any team other than the Minnesota Vikings. For a moment, it looked as though he would be signing a big deal with the Jets before the 2019 NFL season, but the purple and gold got him back with a large contract.

The fact that Barr hasn’t drawn more interest as a free agent is confusing. He is an athletic linebacker who is scheme versatile and is only 30 years old, The only real knock against him is that he hasn’t played a full season since his 2017 campaign.

Barr’s contract was worth over $8.6 million last season. At this late stage of free agency, any deal Barr makes is likely to be significantly lower than that annually or include a much smaller amount of guaranteed money than before.

The number nine overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft still has a lot to offer the league and could be a starter for quite a few teams. Don’t expect him to be a free agent for too much longer as squads start to work toward finalizing their rosters.
