This not only signals the start of what will hopefully be a run-in with much at stake for the Vikings, but it also pits Kirk Cousins against the greatest coach in NFL history on primetime.
The New England Patriots visit U.S. Bank Stadium for a Thursday night matchup on Thanksgiving, which comes just a few short days after the Vikings welcome the Dallas Cowboys for another crunch clash that will go a long way to determining their fortunes.
Cousins has received some criticism for failing to get his team over the line in big moments. Even though this is somewhat unwarranted after making strides in this key area over the last three years.
Bill Belichick will have a plan in place to maximize the chances of Cousins making mistakes. But the Patriots have their work cut out staking a claim in the ultra-competitive AFC based on their current options on paper.
Should the Vikings and Cousins manage to get one over on New England and its wily coach, then it has the scope to build some substantial momentum heading into the business end of the campaign and perhaps make a big difference to their overall record when it’s all said and done.
