5 Minnesota Vikings players to build around for future success
By Dean Jones
Justin Jefferson – WR
Fortune favored the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 when the Philadelphia Eagles passed on Justin Jefferson. The NFC East team’s decision is a mistake they will regret for many years to come.
Jefferson has been nothing short of sensational from the moment he stepped onto the field. He is a supreme difference-maker that has a rare ability to produce the goods even with so much attention from opposing defensive schemes.
There is no doubt that Jefferson is now among the elite wideouts across the league. His partnership with Adam Thielen is one of the NFL’s most prolific and should continue to be just that with quarterback Kirk Cousins under center.
While some figures on offense are getting into the twilight of their careers, Jefferson promises to be an indispensable member of the Vikings in the future. Although it is going to cost a significant amount to keep the former LSU star happy on his next deal.
This new deal, whenever it’s confirmed, could even be record-breaking if Jefferson’s numbers increase during the 2022 campaign.
Keeping Jefferson around long-term and doing everything in their power to put the right pieces around the dynamic playmaker is absolutely essential for the Vikings long-term. If they can do this and the wideout progresses even further under Kevin O’Connell, then the sky is the limit.
