Kayshon Boutte – WR (LSU)

Could the Vikings pair two former LSU stars as their long-term wide receiver tandem?

It’s something to consider, for sure.

Justin Jefferson has been an absolute revelation since joining the team. The latest in a long list of dynamic pass-catchers to emanate from the program is Kayshon Boutte, who has a lot of similar skills and looks set for a big campaign in Baton Rouge before taking his chances in the NFL.

Boutte is a smooth route runner with the hand-eye coordination to match. Although the wideout only turned out six times in 2021, he more than left his mark with 38 receptions for 509 receiving yards and nine touchdowns to further enhance his reputation.

The prospect isn’t short of explosiveness and has a rare ability to break off big yardage at will. Boutte’s concentration is something that sets him apart and he plays every snap with a conviction that’s hard not to love.

Whether the Vikings will be picking high enough to consider someone like Boutte is debatable, no matter how much it could help their cause long-term. But with Adam Thielen in the twilight of his career, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world by any stretch.
