Vikings post-minicamp 53-man roster prediction
By Adam Carlson
Cornerbacks (7)
- Andrew Booth Jr, Kris Boyd, Cameron Dantzler, Akayleb Evans, Perry Nickerson, Patrick Peterson, Chandon Sullivan
This was the biggest question mark coming into the 2022 preseason but Minnesota used free agency and the draft to add talent while bringing back a familiar face. The Vikings re-signed veteran Patrick Peterson to lead a young group of players looking to grow and develop.
Cameron Dantzler is expected to take another step forward and win a starting role this year but he will need to beat out second-round draft pick Andrew Booth Jr. for the spot. Chandon Sullivan was brought in to be the new nickel corner and should thrive in that role.
Past them, Kris Boyd, Akayleb Evans, and Perry Nickerson should act as backups. One to keep an eye on in training camp and preseason is Harrison Hand, who flashed a couple of times in coverage last season.
Safeties (4)
- Camryn Bynum, Lewis Cine, Josh Metellus, Harrison Smith,
While there is a lot of debate on how other positions will iron out, the safeties seem to be the safest unit. Harrison Smith is a stater and should be next to first-round draft pick Lewis Cine when the season kicks off.
Camryn Bynum flashed at times last season and fans of the Minnesota Vikings should be pretty comfortable with him being the next man up on the depth chart. Then, special teams player Josh Metellus will be the emergency safety to round out the unit.
