Kellen Mond – QB
Despite only being on the field for a grand total of three snaps last season, Kellen Mond‘s rookie campaign could certainly be classified as a disaster.
Even though it was made pretty obvious, we’ve learned over the last few months that former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer really wanted nothing to with helping Mond develop.
Well, now the young passer gets to work with a head coach in Kevin O’Connell who not only has an offensive background, but he is also a former NFL quarterback. Mond’s chances of moving forward in his development will be much higher this year than they were during his rookie season with Minnesota.
Training camp will be a critical time for the young signal-caller. These summer practices and the Vikings’ preseason games will be opportunities for Mond to prove that he deserves to be the No. 2 quarterback behind Kirk Cousins this year and not Sean Mannion.
If Mond is unable to beat out someone in Mannion, who has one touchdown pass since entering the league in 2015, then questions about whether the young quarterback even belongs in the NFL are going to become much more frequent.
