Right Guard

  • Jesse Davis vs. Wyatt Davis vs. Ed Ingram

Last season, the play of the right guards for the Minnesota Vikings was an absolute horror. The interior of the offensive line got pushed around so badly that the Vikings tapped both free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft in the hope of finding a suitable body to put in that spot.

Wyatt Davis is the only one returning from last year but only saw action in six games despite the struggles of the offensive line. He was mostly regulated to special teams since he seemed to be in the coach’s doghouse. This could be his first real chance with the team.

Rookie Ed Ingram has yet to sign his rookie deal with the Vikings and that should be a little concerning as well with his past allegations and legal issues. There is no doubt that he is a bruiser on the field, but whether or not he gets there is the big question.

Jesse Davis is on his fourth team since becoming an undrafted free agent with the Seahawks in 2015. His 72 starts in 80 games played makes him the man to beat thanks to his experience, but winning the job is far from a lock for the 318-pound blocker.

If Ed Ingram signs his deal, he should become the favorite to win the job. Otherwise, veteran Jesse Davis gets the nod based on his experience. Since nothing much is known about Wyatt Davis at this point, it’s hard to know how he would actually fit in.
