Cornerback #2

  • Cameron Dantzler vs. Andrew Booth Jr

Patrick Peterson’s return to the Minnesota Vikings likely cements him as the team’s top corner for the 2022 NFL season. That said, he and Cameron Dantzler did a pretty good job last season, but the young man still had some struggles against some of the top receivers in the league.

Dantzler had 53 tackles and eight pass breakups with one interception last season, but more is expected from the Vikings’ third-round pick in 2010 in his third year in the league. He will be penciled in as the starter.

On the other hand, Andrew Booth Jr. was a superstar at Clemson and Minnesota has some big plans for him once he’s fully healthy and up to NFL speed. There is a reason the Vikings used a second-round pick on him in the 2022 NFL Draft and he will be expected to be a starter soon, if not this season.

This whole competition hinges on Booth’s ability to be ready following sports hernia surgery. If he can truly compete at full strength, this should be one of the closest one-on-one battles for a starting job on the Minnesota Vikings roster.
