Signing DT Harrison Phillips

When the Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, many fans weren’t quite sure what to think. Unless a defensive tackle gets national media attention, most players at the position don’t get a lot of love.

The former Bills big man was a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and had an overall PFF grade of 77.4 for last season. The 6’3 and 307-pounder was signed by Minnesota with a specific role in mind: filling a gap in the new 3-4 Vikings front.

Dalvin Tomlinson and Armon Watts are the favorites to play next to Phillips as the front line of the defense in 2022. This is important since having an experienced player who has played at a high level will help the defense grow and find their identity quicker.

Not only is he an experienced player with a solid PFF grade, but “Horrible Harry” is a good community person known for coaching, teaching, and giving back to the community. He will be a huge asset for the Minnesota Vikings and one that could pay dividends for many years to come.
