Justin Jefferson has taken the NFL by storm, but could the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver win the Triple Crown in 2022?
To say that Justin Jefferson has left a mark during his first two seasons in the league would be the biggest understatement. The Minnesota Vikings struck gold when the former LSU standout fell into their laps at No. 22 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, which was swiftly followed by the smoothest of transitions and some elite numbers for good measure.
Jefferson has everything one looks for in a stud wide receiver. His route-running is first-class, the ball skills are ungodly, and the player also has a swagger that does not shy away from the big occasion.
Although Jefferson has far exceeded all expectations so far, there is plenty more to come. If the third-year-pro takes another leap forward in 2022, then one of the most prestigious honors could be an attainable feat next time around.
Winning the Triple Crown by leading the league in receiving yards, touchdowns, and receptions is the holy grail for wide receivers across the league. Only four players since 1970 have achieved this feat, with Cooper Kupp joining those history makers after a phenomenal 2021 campaign for the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
The last player before Kupp to win the Triple Crown was Steve Smith with the Carolina Panthers in 2005. Another stern indicator of what a difficult task it is.
Jefferson has the tools to put up significant totals once again. But here are three reasons why he could go one better and secure the Triple Crown next season.
