3 reasons why Justin Jefferson can win the Triple Crown in 2022
By Dean Jones
Justin Jefferson has added urgency
Although Justin Jefferson has three years remaining on his rookie deal if the Vikings pick up his fifth-year option, it’s clear that the wide receiver has already outplayed this based on an exceptional start to life at the next level.
Players are always looking to get paid. And the salary cap is only going up thanks to some unbelievable television and streaming deals.
Minnesota will likely pay Jefferson way before the time comes. But this could also provide the player with the sense of urgency needed to take his game to even greater heights in 2022.
It’s hard to gauge just how much more Jefferson can give. He’s already accumulated more than 3,000 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in just two years, so it wouldn’t take all that much for the wideout to win the Triple Crown if everything goes according to plan next season.
If this scenario comes to fruition, then Jefferson’s representatives will likely have some extortionate demands when it’s time to begin contract negotiations.
Any extra motivation Jefferson can generate before competitive action begins is a bonus. If that is financial, so be it.
