4 realistic goals for Vikings QB Kirk Cousins in 2022
By Dean Jones
Lead by example
It’s not just on the field where Kirk Cousins will be expected to make a lasting contribution. The Vikings are also looking for the Michigan State product to evolve further into a leadership role, something he’s done well since his arrival in 2018 free agency.
There were some concerns about Cousins’ leadership last season, thanks in no small part to his vaccination status. It’s unlikely that will pose much of a complication this time around, which is a weight off of the organization.
Cousins is free to do whatever he likes with his body, obviously. But if there was ever a time for the signal-caller to lead by example and from the front, it’s now.
The player will be tasked with motivating his teammates, guiding some young individuals in the right direction, and also making sure everyone is fully immersed in Kevin O’Connell’s new way of thinking on offense.
Everyone looks to the quarterback for inspiration in times of struggle. The Vikings have some big personalities on both sides of the football, but they will only go as far as Cousins takes them, and becoming an improved leader will also assist him and the team.
