It was the briefest of stints on the field for Myron Mitchell during his first season with the Vikings in 2021. The wide receiver found opportunities limited as he adjusted to life in the pros, turning out just once and featuring in two percent of the team’s offensive snaps.

Mitchell proved to be a dependable catching presence and an outstanding kick returner in college at UAB. However, there remains some doubt about whether or not this can translate to the Vikings and especially given the overall strength within the wide receiver room in 2022.

Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn are the starting trio. Bisi Johnson could be a factor after returning from injury and rookie Jalen Nailor is another that could force his way into the team’s plans in training camp.

There is a brand new coaching staff for Mitchell to impress this summer. Hitting the ground running will be crucial, but a fresh set of eyes is probably the best-case scenario given how little he was involved last time around.

Much will also depend on how many receivers the Vikings take through onto the roster. So it’s vitally important for Mitchell to seize every opportunity coming his way in camp and preseason games.
