The Vikings are a team that is going to be throwing the ball a ton in 2022. They have a talented trio of wide receivers who have all proven to be firecrackers and should continue to do so in 2022. Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and K.J. Osborn will benefit greatly from being part of Kevin O’Connell’s pass-heavy attack, but receivers down the depth chart also will have plenty of opportunities.

Sure players like Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Bisi Johnson, and Albert Wilson will be favorites to pick up the scraps but don’t count out this kid from East Carolina. Blake Proehl was having a great preseason in 2021, before getting hurt and placed on injured reserve.

He is the son of Ricky Proehl who made his living in the NFL with great hands and fluid route running and the son is very much like the father. If he can come in and pick up where he left off a season ago, he will be in the mix to not only make the team, but he should have a favorable place on the depth chart as well.

Blake Proehl will be a name to watch in the preseason and especially in the exhibition games. If he runs solid routes and shows reliable mitts, he could earn a spot on this team. If the Vikings do employ four or even five receiver sets, Proehl could be the man that defenses opt to overlook. This could lead to a surprising number of explosive plays to come from the second-year player
