Ty Chandler – RB
The Minnesota Vikings running back depth chart is a deep one that is shrouded in mystery. There is no question about the man who will sit upon this throne, Dalvin Cook. He’s explosive as anyone in the league and is a home run threat any time the ball is in his hands whether it be a handoff or a reception.
The rest of this depth chart gets a bit murkier. Alexander Mattison will be the number two unless he’s traded in the preseason. That is a possibility since he’s in a contract year and will be surely looking to start for another team when he hits free agency in March. If he does stick with the team the biggest question will be who is the third running back on this roster? Kene Nwangwu was an explosive return man a season ago and maybe that is how the Vikings will use him again in 2022. If that is the case and he is saved for special teams, then the window opens for Ty Chandler to make a name for himself as a rookie.
Chandler proved at North Carolina that he is an explosive firecracker of a player. The guy had 26 rushing touchdowns in his career and four receiving. He tallied over 3000 rushing yards and nearly 700 in the air in his time in the powder blue, showing that if he gets an opportunity he can make plays that change football games.
The Vikings running back depth chart is deep but if Ty Chandler gets a chance, he will prove he is an explosive playmaker who is worthy of mention on Independence Day.
