Which players could hold the Minnesota Vikings ransom if things go well for the franchise in 2022?

The Minnesota Vikings began their new era under Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell with little in the way of financial resources to make moves this offseason. It took some significant salary-cap maneuvering to comply with NFL restrictions and put the necessary pieces in place for a potential playoff return in 2022.

This is arguably a big reason why the Vikings decided to hold firm with most of their established stars rather than go for a complete reset after Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman were fired. However, the window of opportunity is shrinking rapidly with this current group, so it might not be much longer before landmark changes to playing personnel arrives.

At least from the outside looking in, the Vikings have more than enough to reach the postseason. The NFC is not expected to be that deep or strong overall in 2022, which is something Minnesota can take advantage of if their transition to a different game plan goes better than expected.

Some players have more on the line than others next season. Whether that be fighting for their futures or looking for new deals, there is a significant amount at stake for a team that’s flattered to deceive in big moments in recent seasons.

With just a little over $1.8 million in spare cap space currently estimated for next spring, which players could end up holding the Vikings ransom in 2023?
