Justin Jefferson – WR

Justin Jefferson is already a superstar. The wide receiver wasted no time in firmly establishing himself as one of the league’s best playmakers and any further improvements in 2022 could see the former first-round selection reach heights not seen since the Vikings had Randy Moss at the peak of his powers.

The LSU product has set himself some lofty goals this offseason. Jefferson should also benefit from the presence of Kevin O’Connell, who comes from the Sean McVay coaching tree and is a substantial change of pace from Mike Zimmer’s defensive-minded approach.

If Jefferson does what everyone expects next season and then some, it is likely to come with his representatives calling the Vikings to discuss a new contract. Time is on Minnesota’s side with the ability to trigger his fifth-year option, but a megabucks contract would avoid a sticky situation later down the line.

Few would deny that Jefferson has already outplayed his rookie deal. He is set to count $3.57 million against the cap next season and $4.17 million in 2023, which is an absolute bargain when one considers how important the wideout is to Minnesota’s plans.

This contract could be a record-breaker if Jefferson makes improvements in the coming months. And the Vikings should be willing to give the receiver whatever he wants.
